Michael Beseda became Vice President of Enrollment and University Communications in June 2013 — arriving with nearly 35 years of experience in admissions, marketing, planning and teaching.
Beseda established his career at Saint Mary’s College of California, where he spent more than 10 years as the Vice President for College Communications and Vice Provost for Enrollment.
During his tenure, Beseda oversaw the creation of Saint Mary’s first integrated marketing plan, established its first offices of institutional research and college communications and created the college’s first technology plan. He also led the effort to revamp Saint Mary’s web presence.
His other positions at Saint Mary’s included that of Vice President of Enrollment Services, Assistant Vice President, Director of Admissions and lecturer.
Beseda graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from Saint Mary's. He earned his master’s in literature at San Francisco State University before completing graduate coursework at U.C. Berkeley in higher education policy.
His leadership in enrollment efforts led to the largest, most diverse and most academically talented classes in college history. He was instrumental in Saint Mary's inclusion in "Colleges That Change Lives" guidebook.
