Schedule of Events

With the exception of class visits, parents and family members are welcome to join in on all activities scheduled for Friday, April 4. A detailed schedule of events will be available for all guests at registration Friday morning. 

Thursday, April 3, 2014
4:00–6:00 p.m.Check-in and Registration for Overnight Visitors
Bring a sleeping bag, pillow, towel, and swimsuit if you have them. A limited number of linen packets will be available for those unable to bring their own bedding.
5:00–7:00 p.m.Wine and Cheese Reception for Parents

Once overnight students have checked in and connected with their hosts, parents are invited to join Willamette staff members at the Hallie Ford Museum to sample a range of wines from the Willamette Valley.

10:30–12:00 a.m.Late Night at Sparks

Overnight student guests won’t want to miss this chance to meet one another and have some fun. A number of Willamette’s student clubs plan to roll out the red carpet to make you feel welcome.

8:00 - 8:30 a.m. Check-in and Registration
Students who registered the prior evening need not register again. Neither food nor drink are allowed in our concert hall for the welcome address, so ask a staff member or student where you can get your caffeine fix before our program begins.
8:30 - 9:00 a.m. Welcome and Opening Remarks

9:10 - 10:10 a.m.Break-out Sessions

1. Attend a class (students only)
2. Attend one of the following break-out sessions:

  • Student Panel - Current students involved in a variety of academic disciplines and co-curricular pursuits will discuss their Willamette experiences. 
  • Parent Panel - Parents of current students and recent Willamette alums will address their experiences as members of the Willamette community. 
  • Combined Degree and Pre-Professional Programs: 3-2 BA/MBA, 3-3 BA/JD, Engineering, Forestry, Pre-Health and Pre-Med.
  • Wellness and Sustainability - A discussion around programs that promote the health and well-being of the entire Willamette community; including Zena Farm and Forest, our nationally-renowned Outdoor Program, and campus-wide initiatives toward sustainability.  
  • Go Bearcats! Varsity Athletics - Coaches and current students will discuss life at Willamette as a varsity athlete and answer questions of students planning to participate at this level.  
10:20 - 11:20 a.m.Break-out Sessions

1. Attend a class (students only)
2. All break-out sessions repeat during this time

11:00 - 2:00 p.m. Lunch and Campus Tours

Lunch:
Goudy Commons, Kaneko Cafe, and the Bearcat Cavern are all open for lunch from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Complimentary meals are provided for our student guests. Parents and families are welcome to purchase lunch from any of the aforementioned venues.

Tours: 
Campus Tours will be available at 11:30 a.m. as well as 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Tours last about one hour. 

Residential Open House:
Rooms throughout our campus residences will be open and available to view for future Bearcats.  

1:45 - 2:30 p.m. Campus-Wide Reception

Faculty from across disciplines, varsity coaches, and student life staff will be on hand to answer any final questions before you depart from campus. For those ready to make it official, opportunities will be available to place your enrollment deposit and join in our tradition of ringing the enrollment bell. 

2:30–3:30 p.m.Last Chance Campus Tours
Tours last about one hour.

All Day Events

The Financial Aid office will be open from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and the staff encourages you to stop by with questions about need-based financial aid. Located on the 3rd Floor of the University Center, they will serve families on a first-come, first-served basis.

Residential Services (residence hall selection, ID cards and parking) welcomes visitors.

Bishop Wellness Center (student health services and counseling) welcomes visitors to learn more about our services.

The Hallie Ford Museum of Art hosts an impressive collection available to our visitors throughout the day. 

Beginning and end times are fixed although slight modifications may be made to the event schedule.
