Scholarships offered by the Atkinson School are merit-based scholarships. Merit is determined by an overall evaluation of the applicant for admission and includes a variety of characteristics including (but not limited to): GMAT or GRE scores, undergraduate academic performance and grade point average, experience, academic and managerial potential, and the ability of the student to actively contribute to the learning environment of the Atkinson School.
All applicants admitted to a full-time format of the Willamette MBA program are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships when their application is evaluated for admission by the admission committee. No additional forms are required.
Applicants interested in maximum consideration for scholarship assistance are urged to complete the application process as soon as possible, because scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis. In addition, applicants applying for the Willamette MBA STEM Scholarship or the Willamette MBA Global Diversity Scholarship must complete their application process by February 15.
Total scholarship funding offered to scholarship eligible admitted applicants will range from 11% to 100% of tuition. Approximately 60 percent of students receive scholarship assistance. Scholarship recipients are notified of their scholarship award in their admission email and letters of admission.

General Information About All Willamette MBA Scholarships
All scholarships awarded by the Willamette MBA program require full-time enrollment in the Willamette MBA program. Fifty percent of the scholarship award for the academic year is dispersed for fall semester (August) and 50% is dispersed for spring semester (January). Scholarship awards are not available for summer semester.
Scholarships awarded to MBA students (Early Career, Career Change, BA/MBA) for the first year of MBA study are renewable at the same dollar amount for the second year of full-time MBA study if the student completes all of the following:
- attains a minimum Atkinson School cumulative grade point average of 3.3 (B+) as of the end of the first year of MBA study;
- maintains full-time enrollment in the Willamette MBA program, and
- maintains good standing within the academic policies and expectations of conduct of the Atkinson School and Willamette University.
Additional scholarship opportunities for second year students include a selection of competitive scholarships that recognize characteristics such as entrepreneurship, academic achievement, leadership, service, and initiative. Students apply for these scholarships during the spring semester of the first year of study.
Students who pursue the MBA/JD joint program should know that the College of Law and the MBA program award scholarships separately. A scholarship given by one program does not apply while a student is studying at the other program. MBA/JD students who receive scholarship assistance from the MBA program will receive the scholarship only for the first academic year in which they are enrolled full-time in the MBA program.
Endowed and Named Scholarship Programs
A portion of our scholarship funding comes from the generous donations of alumni and friends of the Willamette MBA program who support the education of leaders of tomorrow. Many of these donors received scholarship assistance as a student and their contributions continue the tradition of investing in the future of the next generation of Willamette MBA students.
