12:00 - 1:00 p.m.Virtual Networking
Networking events can be fun. The traffic getting there, slapping on a name tag and awkwardly shaking hands with strangers? Not so much. Thankfully there’s a better way!

Join us for another online speed networking event and make connections in your industry – all from the convenience of your desk! We’ll have three networking booths to fit your career focus:
  • Arts & Nonprofit
  • Business
  • Science & Technology
Register online!

How this works:
  • Bearcats from all over will login in at the same time and be matched with others in their field for eight-minute instant-message chats.
  • If the person you are “chatting” with has a LinkedIn profile, it will appear on one side of the screen while you are interacting with him or her.
  • When you make a valuable connection and your eight minutes are up, you can move your discussion to Skype, a phone call, an email or an in-person meeting.
Here’s what one alumnus said about Virtual Networking:  “I had my concerns about this format, but found that after a couple of connections, it was great to hear from other alumni, both "seasoned" and newbies. There are certainly some interesting and informed people that have come out of Willamette who are doing excellent work in their fields" - Brian Sund '76

Portland, Oregon

Whether your career needs a kick-start or a jump-start, join us for the last workshop in the WUAA Fall Lunch & Learn Professional Development Series.

Bethany

Presenter: Bethany Huntley '11, Personal Image Advisor. Bethany noticed early on that the way she dressed affected both her outlook, and the way she was seen by others. Because she moved across diverse regions of the U.S. throughout her childhood, she learned the value of adapting her wardrobe to make the right impression from a young age. Spending the last two years working with a personal styling company gave her the technical knowledge to share what she already knew: The way you dress affects how you are perceived, both by others and by yourself.

Program: As a professional, learning how to dress in a way that is flattering, appropriate, and reflects who you are is a skill worth mastering. Whether you're interviewing for a new job, hoping to advance in the position you are already in, or meet with clients on a regular basis, this workshop will give you the tools to look your best and make positive first impressions.
