Faulhaber, Greenberg Win Hammer Throw at Willamette-Corban Dual
Bearcat Men Defeats Warriors, 74-52; WU Women Triumph, 71-57
SALEM, ORE. -- Max Faulhaber (Jr., Eugene, OR/Sheldon HS) of Willamette University won the men's hammer throw and Taryn Greenberg (So., Newport Beach, CA/Corona Del Mar HS) of Willamette prevailed in the women's hammer throw, as the Bearcats closed out victories in men's and women's track and field on Friday, March 15.
The two hammer throw events, held near the the Math Learning Center, completed the Willamette versus Corban dual meet. All other events between the crosstown rivals were held at the Charles Bowles Track on Thursday, March 14.
Willamette defeated Corban in the men's competition, 74-52. The Bearcats outscored the Warriors in the women's competition, 71-57.
Faulhaber's winning distance in the hammer throw was 170' 11". Wyatt Briggs (Sr., Scio, OR/Scio HS) also from Willamette, took second place with a top toss of 161' 4.50". Dane Walker of Corban was third at 143' 11.50".
Greenberg won the women's hammer throw with toss of 131' 8.50", which missed her career best by just 6.50". Her personal record of 132' 3" was set last week at the Lane Preview.
Willamette's Kaeleigh Thorp (So., Sam Leandro, CA/Encinal HS) placed second in the hammer throw at 120' 0.50", and Jossalyn Wright (So., Aumsville, OR/Cascade HS) was third for the Bearcats with a personal record throw of 119' 6.50".
A select group of Willamette track and field athletes will compete during the Oregon Preview on Saturday, March 16 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
