"Big Questions ABOUT Lunch: Who Gets to Eat? What? With Whom? and What's It All Mean?"
Charlie Wallace, chaplain and professor of religious studies emeritus

"Big Questions Over Lunch is a great series (as attenders of previous sessions will readily attest). My presentation will invite us to hold up a mirror to what we're doing. Asking some big questions about lunch (and all human eating/drinking) will help us understand not only life-styles and world views, but spirituality and religion in general. Checking out eating and drinking will give us clues both to the academic 'turn' toward 'lived religion' and 'embodied spirituality' -- and to religious groups' recent down-playing of dogma in favor of practical expressions like hospitality, outreach, community, story-telling, art, ritual performance, and craft brewing. Could be both tasty and nutritious. NB: No beer available in the UC, but the gathering might still be, as Alexander Pope put it, a 'feast of reason and a flow of soul.'"
~Charlie Wallace

Join us for a lively brown-bag seminar and discussion. Bring your lunch or purchase it at the Cat Cavern on the second floor of the University Center. (Please allow an extra 15-20 minutes to purchase your lunch.)
