EDM 586 Assessment: Improving Student Learning (2 credits)

Participants will learn about current trends in educational assessment, uses for assessment data ranging from individual student to school level measures, how assessments can support or marginalize particular student populations, and how to critique and understand a variety of assessment tools and processes. Participants will engage in a review of assessment data and materials available to them as classroom teachers and explore opportunities to further analyze the assessment data through both qualitative and quantitative lenses from their own classrooms in light of their personal educational commitments to effective curriculum and instruction.
