Family Weekend 2011
Family Weekend is a beloved annual event for students and their families: a time when family members get a glimpse into life at Willamette. This fall nearly 1,000 parents, grandparents and siblings arrived on campus for three days of events, Oct. 14-16.
Showcasing the talents of our students and faculty was at the heart of the weekend. Various theatre and music performances and intercollegiate athletics competitions gave students the opportunity to shine for their families and friends.
The highly anticipated Mini-University sessions led by faculty, gave families a first-hand experience of being in the classroom and learning from our professors. Fifteen sessions were held and ranged from African American culture and slavery, cryptography, Plato, drug design, and immigration reform, among others.
Family Weekend guests also had the option of enjoying some of the area’s local attractions, a hike to Silver Falls State Park and Willamette Valley’s wine country.
