Willamette makes list of Peace Corps top colleges

Willamette University ranks among the top small colleges and universities this year for its number of Peace Corps volunteers, with 14 undergraduate alumni currently serving overseas.

Year after year, Willamette places in the top colleges list. Since the Peace Corps was founded in 1961, 348 Bearcats have served with the organization.

Following the Willamette motto, “Not unto ourselves alone are we born,” these undergraduate alumni are continuing a tradition of service they began as students. Willamette undergrads volunteer an average of 44,000 hours annually.

The Peace Corps strives for world peace and better understanding between Americans and the people of other countries. Volunteers commit to 27 months of service, working around the world on causes ranging from AIDS education to information technology and environmental preservation.
