Native art, dances showcased at Pow wow
Traditional dances, foods and songs were shared with those who attended the 12th annual Pow wow at Willamette University March 8.
The free event celebrated the history and traditions of native people. About three dozen dancers and more than 15 different drum groups provided entertainment, and vendors sold everything from frybread to traditional Native American crafts and artwork.
During the ceremonies, organizers and participants also sang a song to honor April Campbell, the new Indian education specialist for the Oregon Department of Education.
