New AG to Speak at WUCL
The Center for Law and Government is pleased to welcome John Kroger, Oregon's newly elected attorney general, to campus for a public lecture on January 15. "Protecting Oregon, Protecting You" is expected to outline Kroger's key priorities for protecting the citizens of Oregon while heading the Oregon Department of Justice.
Kroger is an award-winning criminal prosecutor and law professor who has devoted much of his life to public service. As a federal prosecutor, Kroger convicted 97 percent of the criminals he charged, winning major cases against mafia killer Gregory Scarpa Jr., drug kingpin Juan "The Puma" Rodriguez, and hundreds of other drug traffickers and corrupt government officials. Kroger helped prosecute crooked Enron executives and served on the emergency response team to the 9/11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. In recognition of his work, Kroger received awards and commendations from former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno, the FBI, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the State Department.
Kroger will present his lecture at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, in room 201 of the Truman Wesley Collins Legal Center at Willamette University. The College of Law welcomes your attendance at this free public event. For more information, please contact the Center for Law and Government at 503-370-6046.
