Rita Moore

Rita Moore, interim dean of the Graduate School of Education, joined Willamette in June 2007 as the associate dean of the then School of Education, where she also teaches in the literacy program. She earned her PhD in literacy education from the University of Missouri-Columbia and has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in literacy and language for more than 13 years in Missouri, Kansas, Idaho, Montana and Oregon. Moore serves on the editorial board for Reading Teacher, Reading Research and Instruction, and Reading and Writing Quarterly and is active at the national, state and local level in literacy education initiatives. Her research interests — interactive literacy strategies and action research for teachers — are highlighted in her two books Reading Conversations (2004) and Classroom Research for Teachers (2003). Her third book on elementary classroom literacy instruction is forthcoming in early 2010.
