SUSTAINABILTY RETREAT 2008

Assessing the Assessment

September 26th & 27th at the Oregon 4H Center and Zena Forest

Why

In order to aid planning and assessment efforts, participants in the 2006 retreat identified a set of sustainability indicators for the campus community. Over 2007-2008 academic year, the Sustainability Council, with a lot of help, compiled the data needed to calculate these indicators and produced the first annual report. Come help us: i) think about how these indicators inform the priorities identified at the 2007 retreat; and ii) "assess the assessment."

Who

Approximately 40 students, staff, faculty, administrators, and Trustees.

Where

The Oregon 4H Center and Zena Forest.

Format

An opening session on Friday evening will acquaint participants with the process and results of calculating our portfolio of sustainability indicators. On Saturday, participants will break into smaller groups to discuss the results, consider how they inform the priorities identified at last year's retreat, and brainstorm ways to improve the set of indicators and the report.

In addition to the working sessions, the retreat provides an opportunity to become acquainted with a broad cross-section of the Willamette community. There will be plenty of opportunity for fun and socialization around meals and between meeting sessions. Come explore the Zena forest with students, faculty, staff, and adminstrators! For participants who are interested in viewing the "Art of Ceremony" opening procession on Saturday afternoon, vans will leave the retreat site at 2:30pm (at the end of the early afternoon session) and return from campus shortly after 4:00pm (in time for the late afternoon session).
