Affiliated Faculty & Staff

The Sustainability Institute aims to highlight and connect the many faculty and staff at Willamette University who advance sustainability, social justice, and/or equity in their courses and research, as well as through our co-curricular programming, community outreach, and operations.

The Institute also intends to leverage affiliate's collective expertise and experience to guide its strategic advancement of sustainability in academics, operations, and campus and community engagement. Learn more about affiliating below.

Affiliating with the Sustainability Institute

The Institute aims to improve the connections between and the awareness of the many faculty and staff responsible for Willamette University's recognition as a national leader for sustainability in higher education. Thank you for considering affiliating.

What are the benefits of affiliating? Affiliates are more visible for our (prospective) students, faculty, staff, and others, leading to new collaborations and opportunities. Collectively, affiliates highlight Willamette University's relatively rich experience and expertise across our departments, divisions and colleges.

The Sustainability Institute will periodically inform affiliates of funding opportunities, upcoming events, and other opportunities, provide support and assist with making connections, and hopefully provide additional benefits in the future.

What are the requirements of affiliates? In addition to providing brief summaries about your work (see questions below), affiliated faculty and staff will be invited to participate in one to two meetings per semester, initially focused on steering the Sustainability Institute and its initiatives. Faculty and staff will also be invited to support other initiatives and share information about relevant upcoming events and activities that the Sustainability Institute can promote.

How do faculty and staff affiliate? Please email responses to the questions below (that are relevant to you) to Joe Abraham. You may find the responses of current affiliates above helpful.
