Jose appreciates the Willamette Academy for its tutoring services, for the mentorship it provides, and its excellent study space. Participation with the Academy has helped him keep his grades up. He also hopes to help other students with their studies-he will likely come to help other students the way the Willamette Academy has helped him.

Jenny
Jenny believes that everyone deserves an opportunity to go to college, an opportunity, she thinks, is limited because many people can’t afford college. Jenny is constantly exploring social issues that center around the inaccessibility of college. Especially in her public speaking class, where she’s crafted speeches on the advantages of making college available to everyone .

Brian
Brian is proud of his two last names, Blanco and Lila. One last name from his mother and one last name from his father, they are his role models. He’s motivated to continue his education because of his parents, “they tell me I have to go to college” Brian Blanco Lila loves math, or as he says, “My favorite classes are the ones I get to do math in.” He hopes to be a Mechanical Engineer at Oregon State or Harvard. But for now, he’s spending time at the Willamette Academy with his friends.

Willamette Academy reaches out to historically underrepresented communities by empowering youth who have the desire and potential to advance to higher education.
This academic program is designed to address a number of factors that may discourage certain students from attending college or otherwise impede their academic progress. We are committed to helping our students achieve at a level that will enable them to attend the four-year college or university of their choice.
