Academy Students Participate in Willamette President Thorsett’s Book Club

As part of the MLK celebration a group of Willamette Academy students participated in the President’s Book Club. They read The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie and participated in discussion groups with President Thorsett of Willamette University, along with Willamette University students and faculty. The conversations and insights of the Willamette Academy students contributed greatly to the conversations that happened surrounding the discussions of Alexie’s book. This experience was yet another way to demystify the college experience in the eyes of these students. They were able to interact with the president, faculty, and students in an environment where they could also relate and share their own thoughts and ideas.
