Want to be a part of a huge international project? Willamette University is taking part in the MegaMenger© worldwide distributed fractal building project. Twenty sites around the world will combine their construction efforts to make the world’s first Level 4 Menger sponge. You can help out by building parts of the sponge! Here are a few details about the construction process: The sponge is built from folded business cards, and then covered with a layer of printed cards showing the fractal. The method for construction is simple and uses no tape or glue.

Jennifer Richter was awarded a Wallace Stegner Fellowship and Jones Lectureship in Poetry by Stanford University, where she taught in the Creative Writing Program for four years. Her poetry collection Threshold has been a national bestseller and was named a 2011 Oregon Book Award.

Elena Passarello’s essays on pop culture, music, the performing arts, and the natural world have appeared in Slate, Creative Nonfiction, Normal School, Ninth Letter, and the Iowa Review, among other publications.

Meet Professor Aguilar from the Sociology department at Willamette. She will talk about her experiences getting into college and becoming  a professor.  Along with that she will give you all an opportunity to experience being in a college class with the topic of the American Dream. This will be an engaging workshop, so come prepared with questions and actively participate  during the discussion!

October 24 at Western Oregon University (Will need a permission slip which needs to be turned in to Emmanuel by next Thursday 10/23) You will not be officially signed up for this workshop until you turn in your permission slip! This is only for Seniors, it will open up for Juniors next Tuesday 10/21)
Making College Happen will assist students through the college search and selection process. It is a great opportunity for students to learn about various aspects of college life as well as the countless resources available to help them achieve their goals.Seniors will have an opportunity to apply through an on-site admissions if they bring a completed WOU application, a 60-non refundable application fee or a waiver form, official sealed transcripts and a copy of their SAT or ACT. The conference will talk about financial aid, various student support programs, etc. You will also have the opportunity to  win a $500 non-transferable scholarship from WOU!
