Immediately after graduation, Albert accepted a position in the highly competitive Teach for America program, teaching in post-Katrina New Orleans in some of the most devastated and disadvantaged public schools in the nation. While there, she was instrumental in raising the school’s Graduate Exit Exam pass rate for science by 18% in 2008 and initiated the school’s first speech and debate team. Albert is writing a book about that experience, which will undoubtedly demonstrate her resilience, integrity and commitment to others.

Today, she works in the Women’s Initiative for Self-Employment in Oakland California, a nonprofit agency that provides business training, micro loans and ongoing support to low-income women wanting to start their own businesses.
