So What Is Cruise Control?
We're now a month into our implementation of The Compass, and things are coming along smoothly. We've had plenty of alumni sign up for accounts in the new online system -- updating their profiles, searching for friends in the directory and posting class notes. One of the most popular and growing areas, as one would expect in the current job market, is the Career Network. Every day it expands, building a log of career advisors to help out current students and job-seeking alumni refine their direction and find employment. (Haven't signed up as a career advisor? Please do so!)
But there's more on the horizon. Far from "maintenance mode," we're continuing to expand, particularly in our online systems and programs. The Career Network is taking the lead with the very recent launch of CareerBeam, a new tool whose scope and utility is unprecedented here at Willamette. I encourage everyone to check it out, even if you're not looking for employment. It's a wealth of information, and it might even teach you something about yourself.
You can access CareerBeam through The Compass.
The bottom line is that we're working hard here behind the scenes to bring our alumni information that is timely, accessible and, most importantly, helpful. As we continue to develop new ways of interacting with you and providing tangible services, look for expansions in our social networking presence, more events and additions in the Career Network. And keep your eye on every upcoming issue of WU News -- the new format enables us to include more relevant information than ever before. Look for the new edition every month.
Until then, happy navigating!
