Kayak the San Juans!

After a successful inaugural trip last summer, we're returning to the San Juan Islands for a WU alumni kayak trip.

The "Island Explorer" expedition is fully catered and supplied. The trip will be conducted in small groups of eight kayakers (one professional guide/cook for each eight people who sign up) up to a maximum of 25 total. No sea kayaking experience is required, and most of the group will travel in two-person kayaks.

The trip is once again being conducted by Discovery Sea Kayaks, a company that was selected as a "best travel company on earth" two years in a row by National Geographic Adventure Magazine. Base cost for Willamette participants is $599 per person (including all gear, tents, food and drink, guide services and transportation between the travel company's base in Friday Harbor and the kayaking site), and requires a 25% non-refundable deposit on registration for each paddler, with the balance due before the trip starts (or you can pay in full when you register).

There is a 15% discount for full prepayments made before April 30.

Step 1: Visit Discovery Sea Kayak's online registration form
Step 2: Enter July 20 as your preferred date and "Multi-Day - 3 Days" as your trip type
Step 3: On the page where you enter credit card information, write "Willamette University" in the comments field. If you're registering on March 31 or earlier, also write "Apply 15% early discount." You'll get a confirmation email with the appropriate dollar amount charged, and Discovery will take care of you from there.
