Denise From the Director

Over the course of the past month and a half, we have had the opportunity to interact with over 600 alumni on campus during reunion, at a gathering in Washington, D.C., and during the Four Cities, One Night career networking events. It was exhilarating to have such a positive response and to hear directly from so many of you.

I believe strongly that much of the reason for the success of these events is that the planning was based on data and feedback we’ve gathered from you. We’ve been asking for your thoughts regarding how we can help you stay connected, and you have responded. Thank you!

As we continue to review our programs, gather data and try new approaches, we hope you keep sharing your thoughts with us. If you receive a survey from the alumni office, or an e-mail or call asking for follow-up information and feedback, please do take a moment to respond. The Office of Alumni Relations is evaluated each year on how well we engage our alumni, and although we can measure how many people come to an event, hits on our website or the number of members in The Compass, we don’t necessarily know about those of you who show your engagement by regularly sporting WU hoodies or sending holiday cards to your former roommates. This type of engagement — even if it is harder to track — is just as important as anything. We can pore over industry results and talk to our peer institutions about where they’re successful, but the most important information is what comes from you, our people.

So we thank you for taking part in alumni-sponsored activities and continuing the dialogue with us. We hope to connect with 600 more of you next month!
