President M. Lee Pelton to Take Sabbatical
President M. Lee Pelton will be taking a sabbatical for spring semester 2010, during which he will be in residence at the University of Strasbourg in Alsace, France.
President Pelton's area of academic focus is 19th century British prose and poetry, and his duties at the renowned French school may include teaching but are likely to focus primarily on research.
During Pelton's sabbatical, Dr. Larry Large will serve as interim president. Dr. Large previously served as interim president at Willamette in 1978. In addition, he held several other positions at WU from 1972 to 1978 including vice president and dean of students.
Willamette will gain a professor as part of the faculty exchange as well. Ludwig Kreitz from the University of Strasbourg will teach courses on the history of European politics.
