'Art by the Park' helps attendees learn and create

Willamette will once again host "Art by the Park," an art workshop for adults, July 13-16. The program is held on the Willamette campus and offers the option of overnight accommodations over several days of activities.

The workshop will comprise a selection of art classes taught by Willamette faculty and select community artists. Scheduled classes cover various media, including drawing, painting, printmaking and photography. Bon Appétit, the company managing Willamette's food services, will also teach a culinary class.

Participants will have opportunities to explore the Hallie Ford Museum of Art, Willamette and downtown Salem.

A four-day, three-night package that includes classes, lodging, breakfast and lunch is $445, or $405 for double occupancy. When purchased separately, each three-hour class costs $40.

The workshop is scheduled to allow participants to continue their art adventure by visiting the Salem Art Association's Annual Salem Art Fair and Festival, beginning July 16 at nearby Bush's Pasture Park.

To see all of the scheduled classes or register for the workshop, visit the "Art by the Park" website. Contact event coordinator Leslie Whitaker at lwhitake@willamette.edu or (503) 375-5442 with questions.

The workshop is open to all alumni and parents.
