The crazy days of summer
Three cheers for the Willamette alumni network! Thanks to your great ideas, volunteerism and participation, we have more going on than ever.
We recently raised a toast to the energetic group of alumni -- spanning five and a half decades -- who showed up to celebrate at the "You're Doing What With Your Degree" event at Pyramid Brewery in Portland on May 20. Throughout the night introductions were made, business cards were swapped and everyone had a generally good time musing about the adaptability of a liberal arts degree. You really should have been there if you weren't!
Then, two short days later, we recognized the outstanding service of the directors and officers serving on the WU Alumni Board of Directors, with a special hand for those finishing up their board service: Paul Boaden ‘77, Julie Branford ‘67, Duane Button ‘84, David Chiappetta ‘89, Chris Hall ‘83, Heidi Patterson ‘75, Terry Shuchat '62, Michael Trotter ‘98 and Gabrielle Williams ‘96. Many thanks to these committed volunteers and their advocacy and outreach on behalf of alumni. In addition to this recognition, we welcomed new board officers and celebrated the incredible contributions of the board as a whole, including 100% participation in giving to Willamette this fiscal year. Thank you all!
Need more? This week we will make our alumni presence known as we cheer at the Portland Beavers game, lend a hand through the Team Willamette event at the Oregon Food Bank and get rowdy in the March to the Match for the Sounders' game in Seattle.
Lazy days of summer? Nonsense. We're just getting started.
