Willamette University, Students at the Mill Stream

August 2010

Alumni Day PicThings are getting busier up on campus as we all get ready to welcome the class of 2014. Example: Workers just poured concrete for a new sidewalk outside the renovated theatre building, which will be opening by the time classes start in a month or so (stay tuned for more on that in future editions).

The biggest news in alumni relations is Reunion Weekend, which takes place once again next month. Mark those calendars for Sept. 24-26 and visit the reunion website for all the details on new events and more. We're getting a lot of registrations — this is going to be a big one!

The image to the right is related to reunion... sort of. We found this ad in a 1959 edition of The Alumnus, which used to be Willamette's alumni magazine before The Scene was around. We thought readers might enjoy a look back just as we did.

Regretfully, we are sad to share the passing of two faculty members since the last edition of WU News. Mary Ann Youngren, retired professor of psychology, died in June. She served as a member of the faculty until 2002. Also, David Ingram, a longstanding adjunct music faculty member, passed away at the end of June.
