Willamette MBA students establish net impact – international service organization

A group of students in Willamette University's MBA program recently established a chapter of the international business organization Net Impact — allowing them to serve the local community while observing and gaining valuable business management skills.

Net Impact is an international nonprofit that uses a business-oriented structure as a vehicle for social service and sustainability efforts. The organization was founded in 1993 by MBA students as a social impact group, and has grown to include undergraduates, MBA graduates and business professionals. The Willamette chapter joins more than 260 other chapters from many of the world's leading graduate schools.

The business of sustainability: participate in the Sustainable Enterprise Certificate Program

Willamette's Sustainable Enterprise Certificate program is truly one of a kind. Participants learn how to 'see' and ultimately integrate complex systems - natural, social, and economic - into a strategy for action in their particular area of interest in sustainability. They work in a cohort to optimize learning by leveraging each other's strengths and interests. They benefit from world-renowned practitioners and instructors who share the latest learning from their own initiatives and research. Lively in-class exercises and applied learning in-between sessions contribute to an overall understanding of how to implement a sustainability strategy in their own organization or community.

The three session program is delivered on-site at the Willamette University Portland Center. Sessions are supplemented with webinars on new topics in sustainability management.

Program Dates:
February 16-18, 2011 - System Dynamics
March 16-18, 2011 - Natural and Social Systems
April 13-15, 2011 - Moving Into Action
