Getting Ready Now for the End of the Semester

With finals a mere four weeks away, many on campus are focused on what they need to do before school is out for the summer break. We receive many questions about the end of the spring semester. Here are a few answers and tips about some of the common inquiries we receive this time of year.

Residence halls

As much as your student may love her or his dorm room (and want to live there through the summer) he or she will need to move out within 24 hours after the last final. Graduating seniors can stay in their rooms until the day after graduation, which is May 16. For detailed information about moving out, check the Residential Services guidelines.

There is limited storage space in several of the residence halls. If you’re student is traveling a long distance and wants to store some items over the summer, have her or him contact an RA in their hall about what is available.

Transportation to PDX

ASWU (Associate Students of Willamette University) typically schedules a number of shuttles to Portland International Airport during finals week. The cost of the shuttle is very modest compared to private carriers in the area. A shuttle schedule will be posted at the ASWU Services site a few weeks before the end of the semester.

Congratulations to those of you who will be joining us for graduation this year! You should already have received a few postcards about the activities arranged for Commencement Weekend. See the FAQ site for any of the questions you might have about the weekend.
