The Impact of $26 Million
Each year, Willamette undertakes a campaign to encourage donor support to each of the colleges — over 5,900 alumni and parents made gifts to Willamette last school year. Through this effort, the Willamette Fund, considered Willamette’s “current-use endowment,” raises nearly $1.5 million in annual support of student programming, scholarships, faculty salaries, student and faculty research projects and building improvements.
Without this, Willamette would need an additional $26 million in the endowment to ensure that current resources are maintained.
Tuition covers only three-quarters the cost of educating our students each year, and alumni and parent gifts help to bridge the gap. These gifts, ranging between $1 and $50,000, have a sizeable impact on Willamette’s ability to support our students and faculty.
“Needless to say, your annual gift plays an important part in our success,” says Tyler Reich ’06, director of annual giving, “I see first-hand the opportunities our students are afforded through these gifts. Our students and their families can rest assured that, thanks to the support of our alumni and parents, Willamette is here to help make their education, and their promising futures, possible.”
December is a great time to make your annual tax-deductible gift. The Office of Annual Giving is available to answer any year-end giving questions you may have.
