Letter from the Dean

GSEDear GSE Community:

One of our own, MAT Aspire 2012 Candidate Brandon Bennett was among those presented prestigious University Club Foundation merit-based fellowships last evening at a gala banquet at the University of Portland.

Brandon was selected over outstanding graduate students from Willamette's College of Law and Graduate School of Management to represent Willamette University for this year's presentation. The University Club Foundation invests in the intellectual capital of the state of Oregon by awarding one fellowship each year to each of five Oregon universities: Willamette, Oregon State, Portland State, University of Oregon, and University of Portland.

In addition to their financial scholarship award, honorees are granted three years complimentary membership in the University Club of Portland and admission to three annual events of the University Club Foundation community.  You can visit the University Club of Portland's website at http://www.uclubpdx.com/ for more information about their initiatives.

The Foundation was organized by the Club in 1991 to recognize and encourage scholarship, leadership and potential societal contributions among students pursuing graduate education in Oregon.  Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded over $387,500 to more than 75 students pursuing excellence in academics in the areas of the fine arts, humanities, and sciences.

Brandon, you make us all proud.  Congratulations.

Julie Gess-Newsome, Dean
