Willamette University, Students at the Mill Stream

October 2012 Hammock on the mill stream

It's been a great fall semester so far.

For one, Willamette just received a spectacular $3-million gift toward the Sparks Center renovation project. Many of us know how vital a need that is, and it's exciting to share the news that it's well underway. Check the feature article to learn more and see what the finished product might look like.

We need class notes! Remember that we always love publishing your class notes in The Scene, so keep them coming. Married lately? Any cute kids to report on? Professional advancement? We'd like to know. We're currently accepting notes for the winter issue, and we'd like the class notes section to be robust. Submit by emailing scene@willamette.edu or using the easy online form.

Night at The Ram: Help Willamette Academy Oct. 22: WU folks filled Boon's Treasury recently to buy some dinner and drinks to support Willamette Academy. This month there is another opportunity, and it's right across the street. A portion of the proceeds from sales on Monday the 22nd (5 - 9 p.m.) will go to Willamette Academy, Willamette's renowned college access program for area youth. Learn more at the Willamette Academy website.

Finally, there's a new recurring section in this newsletter: The Arts at Willamette. WU produces a lot of important arts-related news -- it should, given how big and busy the programs are -- so we've decided to regularly consolidate it with help from the programs themselves.

Enjoy that sunny transition to fall (at least if you're in the Willamette Valley!).
