Willamette University, Students at the Mill Stream

Alumni awards announced for 2013

It's fitting that these awards should come out just as this year's seniors are graduating. It's a nice consolation that they're entering an alumni community filled with men and women like the following, each of whom exemplify the university motto and inspire us all.

Each year, the Willamette University Alumni Association board of directors choose winners from a pool of alumni-generated nominations. There are three awards:

  • The Young Alumni Leadership Award is given to recent graduates who have already made noteworthy contributions to their communities, their industry, or their causes.
  • The Distinguished Alumni Citation is awarded to alumni of all ages and backgrounds. Many of Willamette's graduates have made waves in their own ways -- this is the way to showcase them.
  • The Sparks Medallion recipients have demonstrated the commitment to the University embodied by one of our most revered alumni, Lestle J. Sparks.
