Career Services and WUAA offer Career Boot Camp to students and recent grads
The Willamette University Alumni Association, Career Services and the Office of Campus Life have joined forces to host the first ever Career Strategies Boot Camp on Saturday, March 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Alumni Lounge.
Open to current students and 2013 graduates, the Boot Camp has been designed to assist young Bearcats in identifying, honing and employing the skills that employers in today’s competitive job market will be looking for. Some of the important topics that will be discussed include interviewing, networking and improving one’s professional self-image.
Sessions will be led by a group of experienced alumni mentors, including a certified executive coach, a professional financial advisor, an account manager from Nike, an attorney and many more.
"By running the sessions at the Boot Camp, alumni are sharing their wisdom and experience and creating networking opportunities,” said Colleen Sump, Director of Alumni and Parent Engagement for the Office of Alumni Relations. “They are truly making a difference in the future professional lives of current students."
Attendees are encouraged to bring plenty of questions, along with a hard copy of their resume. There is a $20 fee to register – which will cover coffee, lunch and take-home materials. Registration closes on Friday, March 7. Those interested in attending can call 503-370-6413.
