SALEM-Despite out-shooting Cascade College 22-6, the Willamette University Bearcats men's soccer team opened the 2004 season with a 0-0 tie at home Wednesday night.

SALEM—Despite out-shooting Cascade College 22-6, the Willamette University Bearcats men’s soccer team opened the 2004 season with a 0-0 tie at home Wednesday night.

The Bearcats (0-0-1) dominated most of the game, especially the second half and the two 10-minute overtime periods, out-shooting Cascade (0-1-1) 15-2 in the final 65 minutes.

Freshman Mark Conrad had ten shots, including four on goal. Cascade goalie Graham Kovarik recorded six saves in the game. Bearcat goalie Dane Meier had five saves.

The Bearcats had 15 corner kicks in the game. Cascade had none. The Bearcats defense, led by Pat Wettach (pictured above) and Zach Reeves allowed only two shots after halftime.
