SALEM, ORE. -- The Northwest Conference baseball series between Willamette University and the University of Puget Sound, set for Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28, has been rescheduled. The changes have been made to reduce time conflicts between the games and the NWC Track and Field Championships, which WU is hosting on April 26 and 27.

The baseball games will still be played on April 27 and 28. Instead of opening the series with a doubleheader, the Bearcats and the Loggers will play a single game at 2 p.m. (PDT) on Saturday at John Lewis Field. Willamette and Puget Sound will complete the series with a doubleheader on Sunday, starting at 12 p.m.

Willamette is 11-18 on the season, 6-9 in the NWC. The Bearcats will host Whitman College in a Northwest Conference series this weekend, with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 13 and a single game on Sunday, April 14. WU will battle Whitworth University in NWC action on Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21 in Spokane, Wash., before returning home to take on UPS.

Puget Sound enters this weekend with an identical record to Willamette, as the Loggers have gone 11-18 overall, 6-9 in the NWC. Willamette, Puget Sound and Pacific University are tied for fourth place in the NWC standings, just one game behind Pacific Lutheran University (7-8 in the NWC).

Peter Hoffman leads the WU pitching staff with a 3.12 earned run average and 40 strikeouts.
