Hall of Fame Focus: Volleyball Player Brandi Row Lazzarini

SALEM, ORE. -- Each day between Oct. 10 and the Willamette University Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 19, the Hall of Fame Focus will feature one of the individuals or teams being inducted. Volleyball outside hitter Brandi Row Lazzarini is highlighted today.

A total of five former Bearcat student-athletes, two teams, one coach and one individual selected for meritorious service will be inducted into the WU Athletic Hall of Fame this fall.

The induction ceremony will be held at the Salem Convention Center. A social hour will start at 6 p.m. (PDT), with the banquet and induction ceremony starting at 7 p.m.

Brandi Row competed for the Willamette volleyball team from 1992 through 1995 and collected a series of career records, including 1,986 kills, 3,738 attacks, 231 aces, 1,889 digs and 485 games played. She owns season records with 658 kills (5.22 avg.) and 1,469 attacks (11.66 avg.). Row also holds game records with 39 kills and 88 attacks.

Row was recognized widely, earning Third Team All-America honors in 1995 and Honorable Mention All-America honors in 1994. She received First Team All-NCIC, as well as NCIC Player of the Year and All-Region honors in 1994 and 1995. She was chosen Second Team All-NCIC in 1992.

Willamette won the 1994 NCIC title with a 12-0 record and finished 30-5 for the best record in school history.  Row’s efforts helped the 1995 team repeat as NCIC champions and qualify for the NAIA National Tournament, while finishing the season at 29-11, including 12-2 in the NCIC.

She is currently an associate professor in the Department of Exercise Science at Willamette.
