Sra is Tied for Seventh Place after First Round of NWC Tournament

Bearcats Hold Fifth Place in Team Standings

WOODBURN, ORE. -- Taneesh Sra (So., Fremont, CA/Mission San Jose HS) from Willamette University shot an 82 to tie for seventh place during the first round of the Northwest Conference Tournament at the Oregon Golf Association Golf Course on Saturday, April 26. The Bearcats finished the round in fifth place.

George Fox University held first place with a score of 319 and a 14-stroke lead. Whitman College was second at 333 and Whitworth University was third at 337.

Lewis & Clark College held fourth place at 345, followed by Willamette at 351. Pacific Lutheran University was sixth at 356, Linfield College was seventh at 373, Pacific University was eighth at 396 and the University of Puget Sound was ninth at 425.

Michal Schuster of Whitworth led all golfers with an even-par 73. She held a four stroke lead over Claire Burke from Lewis & Clark and Sydney Maluenda from George Fox, who were tied for second at 77. Loreece Magsanide of GFU was fourth with a 78. Katie Zajicek from Whitman owned fifth place at 79.

Hailey Ostrom of George Fox was sixth after carding an 80. Sra and Alexandria Smith of Linfield shared seventh place in the standings at 82. Catelyn Webber from Whitman was ninth with an 83. There was a tie for 10th after 18 holes between Alyssa Maine of Whitman and Madison Perry from George Fox, both at 84.

Mckenzie Weinhold (Jr., Placerville, CA/El Dorado HS/Univ. of Nevada-Reno) from Willamette was tied for 12th place with an 85. Also shooting an 85 were Maggie Harlow from Linfield and Desirae Haselwood of Pacific Lutheran.

In addition to Sra and Weinhold, Willamette's team included LettaJoe Gallup (Jr., Alameda, CA/Holy Names HS) and Elise Levy (So., Reno, NV/Bishop Manogue HS). Gallup carded a 91, while Levy recorded a 93.

The NWC Tournament will conclude with the second round of action on Sunday, April 27. Tee times are slated to start for the women's teams at 11 a.m. (PDT). Willamette's golfers have been assigned tee times between 11:40 a.m. and 12:12 p.m.
