Tim Johnson, Director
Tim Johnson has served as the Director of the Center for Governance and Public Policy Research since June of 2017. Tim's research focuses on the interplay of cooperation and wealth equality, the transition of military veterans into civilian public employment, and the measurement of unelected public officials' political ideologies. Tim also holds the Grace and Elmer Goudy Chair in Public Management & Policy Analysis in Willamette University's Atkinson Graduate School of Management.
Fred Thompson, Director Emeritus
Fred Thompson founded the Center for Governance and Public Policy Research and has continued to contribute to the Center's success via his strategic vision and leadership experience. Fred has published countless articles in the areas of public finance, budget theory, and the economics of organization, among other areas. Moreover, as the founding editor of the International Public Management Journal, Fred has shaped the development of the field of public administration for over three decades.
