Schedule of Events

With the exception of class visits, parents and family members are welcome to join in on all activities scheduled for Friday, April 17th. A detailed schedule of events will be available for all guests at registration Thursday afternoon.

Thursday, April 14, 2016

1:00–3:00 p.m.
Check-in and Registration, Mary Stuart Rogers Rehearsal Hall

Come check in! If you're staying overnight, make sure to bring your sleeping bag, pillow, toothbrush and towel (and shower flops!). A limited number of linen packets will be available for those unable to bring their own bedding.

For anyone arriving early we will be offering campus tours at 1pm and 2pm. Inquire at check-in if you're interested.

Class visits will also be selected at registration. Offered on a first-come, first-served basis and limited to one class per student, class visits will be offered in a variety of disciplines.

3:00–4:00 p.m.
Welcome Address, Hudson Concert Hall
4:00–5:00 p.m.
Colloquium Groups, Eaton Hall

Wonder who you'll be sharing campus with next year? Modeled after our student-run Opening Days orientation program, these breakout groups will provide the space to begin answering that question.

4:00–5:00 p.m.
Parent Address, Hudson Concert Hall
Parents and Guardians, we'll have special guest speakers here just for you while your students are off meeting one another.
5:00–6:00 p.m.
Meet Overnight Hosts & Settle Into Residence Halls, Eaton Hall
Students and Parents will meet up with their Overnight Hosts. Not staying overnight? You can take a 5pm Campus Tour, mingle with current students and counselors, or use this time as down-time!
5:30–7:00 p.m.
Parent Reception, Hallie Ford Museum of Art
Families are invited to visit the Hallie Ford Museum of Art for hors d'oeuvres, local wines, and the chance to speak with Willamette community members.
6:00p.m. - On
Evening Events, Across Campus
Finalized event planning is yet to come, but student-coordinated events will be held across campus for students to participate in. Students will also have a meal card to cover the cost of dining on campus.

Class Visits / Tours / Break-out Sessions

1. Tours (Tours last about one hour and will depart from Jackson Plaza.)

  • The First Year Experience (Hatfield Library, Hatfield Room)
  • Faculty Panel (Putnam University Center, Alumni Lounge, 3rd Floor)
  • Varsity Athletics (Sparks Athletic Center, Currey Classroom)
10:20–11:20 a.m.

Lunch / Class Visits / Tours

Lunch: Goudy Commons and Kaneko Cafe are both open for lunch from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Complimentary meals are provided for our student guests. Parents and families are welcome to purchase lunch from any of the aforementioned venues.

Class Visits: Class visits will be available from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. as well as
12:40 - 1:40 p.m.

Tours: Campus Tours will be available at 11:30 a.m. Tours last about one hour and will depart from Jackson Plaza.

1:45–2:30 p.m.
Campus-Wide Reception, Putnam University Center, Cat Cavern

Faculty from across disciplines, varsity coaches, and student life staff will be on hand to answer any final questions before you depart from campus. For those ready to make it official, opportunities will be available to place your enrollment deposit and join in our tradition of ringing the enrollment bell.

2:30–3:30 p.m.
Last Minute Tours, Jackson Plaza

Haven't had the chance to tour campus yet? Join our Ambassadors for a walk through campus to wrap up the event!

Student Bus Departs Campus to Portland International Airport, Hatfield Fountain
3:00–4:00 p.m.
Class Visits Available

If you were unable to attend a class earlier in the day, we'll have limited spaces available during the final hour of classes on Friday afternoon.

All Day Events

The Financial Aid office will be open from 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and the staff encourages you to stop by with questions about need-based financial aid. Located on the 1st Floor of Waller Hall, they will serve families on a first-come, first-served basis.

Residential Services (residence hall selection, ID cards and parking) welcomes visitors.

Accessible Education Services will host an open house between 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Located in Matthews 103, AES offers academic accommodations and other campus supports to students with disabilities. Visitors are welcome to stop by to learn more about their programs.

The Hallie Ford Museum of Art hosts an impressive collection available to our visitors throughout the day.

Beginning and end times are fixed although slight modifications may be made to the event schedule.

Transportation: Overnight students who are traveling alone are welcome to board the Bearcat Bus for transportation between the Airport and Campus. More details to come. Please email Cady Cummings, cummingc@willamette.edu, if you are interested in this service.
