The Willamette University College of Liberal Arts and Atkinson Graduate School of Management offer the BA/MBA combined degree program which allows eligible Willamette University College of Liberal Arts students to complete their Bachelor of Arts and MBA degrees in five years. The combined degree program gives Willamette University students the opportunity to pursue their interest in business, government or not-for-profit management while obtaining a liberal arts education, and provides a fast-track for completion of the Master's degree.
Students preparing to apply for the BA/MBA are enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts during their first three years at Willamette University, completing at least 23 credits of College of Liberal Arts course work including general education requirements and most courses required for their major. Students who transferred to Willamette's College of Liberal Arts are required to complete at least 15 credits at the College of Liberal Arts including general education requirements and most courses required for their major. The specific courses and number of College of Liberal Arts credits a student must complete to be eligible to apply to the BA/MBA program are determined by the student's CLA major department. However students should have no more than one or two remaining senior level CLA courses to complete during the first year of study in the BA/MBA program.
Students who, by the end of their junior year, will meet the CLA eligibility requirements to complete their BA through the combined degree program, may apply for admission to the BA/MBA. The deadline for submitting the BA/MBA application to Atkinson School is May 1st of the junior year.
Admitted students begin MBA studies fall semester of their senior year. During the senior year of study, BA/MBA students complete at least 5 of the six tracks of the MBA core curriculum and their one or two remaining CLA senior level courses. At the end of this year, BA/MBA students who have successfully completed all College of Liberal Arts graduation requirements (including successful completion of MBA credits required for completion of the BA degree) are awarded the Bachelor of Arts degree.
During the fifth year of study, BA/MBA students complete the elective component of the MBA degree and their remaining MBA core courses and co-curricular requirements. As part of the elective component of the MBA curriculum, BA/MBA students must complete a supervised internship for which they receive academic credit. Students may complete this internship during the summer between the fourth and fifth years of study, or during the fifth year of study.
At the end of the fifth year, BA/MBA students who have completed all BA and MBA graduation requirements are awarded the MBA degree. |
