Willamette Naturalist 2.0
Is nature the best teacher? What can we learn from the biological phenomena immediately around us, from the changing colors of fall or the sex lives of local birds? And how can new technologies and web-based communities, such as Web 2.0, help to transform our understanding of local nature? By examining the natural history on and near Willamette University, we will discover what can be learned from careful observation of nature. To facilitate collaboration and communication on a global scale we will work with wikis, digital photography and video, media sharing communities, Google Earth, and other emerging web-based tools. At the same time, we will also read old-school field guides and historical books by famous naturalists, such as Aldo Leopold and Rachel Carson.
