The International Debate Education Association and Willamette University are pleased to announce the fourth annual International Tournament of Champions for High School Parliamentary Debate. The tournament, which will use the standard American Parliamentary Debate format, will be hosted on the Campus of Willamette University in Salem, Oregon on May 15-17, 2008.
Debates will begin on May 16 and will continue through the afternoon of May 17. All teams will compete in six preliminary rounds. A number of elimination rounds appropriate to the size of the tournament will follow the preliminary rounds.

Applications will be selected on the basis of debaters' overall experience in any format of debate along with their competitive success during the current school year. Teams wishing to apply should contact Robert Trapp for an application form. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. In other words, we will consider applications within two weeks of their receipt and will continue to accept teams until all of the spaces are filled. Applications will be accepted through May 1, 2007 or until all spots have been filled.

IDEA and the Willamette University Debate Union will conduct a parliamentary debate workshop on the afternoon of May 15. All debaters entered in the tournament, as well as any other debaters who wish to register can participate in the debate workshop.
Housing for those who need it will be provided in Willamette University dormitories. The cost is $25 per person per night.

The fees will only partially cover the tournament expenses and will be subsidized by IDEA. These fees include all meals during the tournament.
