Word Online Forms and Protected Documents
Software requirements: Word for Windows or Word
for Macintosh, version 6.0 or later.
Word Online Forms are password-protected Word
documents that allow you to fill in the form without accidentally
changing the text or the layout of the form. Other documents may also
be password-protected, allowing you to print the document, but you
will not be able make any changes to the content or the layout of the
document.
- Download the appropriate file.
- Open the file in Word using the File/Open command.
- When you open the document, some versions of Word may ask
for a password. Do not enter anything in the password
field; simply click on OK in any password or
error message dialog boxes. The password is for authorized
personnel who may need to make corrections or additions to the
document.
- Fill in the form by entering information in each form field.
Use the Tab, arrow keys, or the mouse to move between
fields. (In a form, a field is a location where text is typed,
a box is checked, or information is selected from a list). The
amount of space in a field is limited, so responses must be
concise.
- Fill in check-boxes by clicking with the mouse or by pressing
the Spacebar.
- Save the document to a local disk (Save often while
completing the form).
- Print the form when it is complete. Some parts of the printed
form must be filled in manually and signed or initialed, as
indicated.
