John Doan
I was born and raised in Venice, California where I enjoyed playing in various rock groups, taught guitar at a local music store, and began my love of writing music. I have always enjoyed reading, history, and travel and have strived to combine these interests in what I do creatively. After playing a number of historical European instruments with multiple strings I naturally continued this interest when I discovered that there had been a musical movement in America that involved the harp guitar. I have been encouraging others to play the instrument by my recordings, television specials, performances, teaching, and my developing a website that is serving as a clearing house of information about the instrument, its history, luthiers, performers, recordings and much more.
