Elise Yun

Pianist Elise Yun has performed in solo and collaborative recitals in the United States and abroad, including the Ravinia Festival Steans Institute, The Moscow Conservatory International Summer Institute, and at Carnegie Recital Hall (Weill) as a winner in the Artists International Auditions. Following her New York recital, Ms. Yun's playing was described as "full of meaningful expression and musical intelligence." Recent performances include the Ravel Piano Concerto in G major with the Wellesley-Brandeis Orchestra in Boston and a lecture-recital at the International Conference Hall in Kyoto, Japan. As a chamber musician, Ms. Yun has performed with the Lyrica Chamber Ensemble (NJ), Musica Mundana (NYC), and Salem Chamber Music (CT) and in venues such as Merkin Hall (NYC), WQXR-NYC Radio (NYC), and on WGBH-Boston "Classical Performances."

Ms. Yun has performed extensively with 'cellist Hekun Wu in the U.S., Italy, Austria, and China, to critical acclaim. A proponent of contemporary music, the duo has premiered Eric Sawyer's Bagatelles in Boston and Turkish composer Adnan Saygun's Sonata in Merkin Hall. The duo has recorded for CRC and Albany Records.

Ms. Yun has given masterclasses and lecture-recitals in the U.S., South Korea, Japan, and in China at Xiamen University and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. She has taught at The Juilliard School as a Teaching Fellow, New York University, and Westminster Conservatory (NJ). From 1995-2005, she was on the music faculty at Wellesley College where she taught piano and courses in performance, music theory, and music history (Western and East Asian). A graduate of Wellesley College, Ms.Yun completed her graduate studies at The Juilliard School (M.M.) and New York University (Ph.D. in performance). Her teachers include Charles Fisk, Martin Canin, and Jerome Lowenthal.
