How the program works

The SCRP program is designed to pair students with a supervising faculty member for 9 weeks of collaborative research work during the summer months. For the current year (summer 2009) students will receive assistance to make full-time dedication to the research experience possible.

Students will receive a $1,000 stipend towards housing expenses. On-campus housing is possible, but students must make their own arrangements with the Office of Residence Life. Students will also receive a stipend ($4,000) and food allowance in the amount of $500. Please note: Based on federal and state laws, students will be taxed on the total amount of $5,500.

All faculty participants will have access to funds for supplies, travel, and equipment ($500 per team member).

For a list of the faculty who will be participating in SCRP during 2009, and their research goals please visit the Faculty Profiles section of the website.

For specific detail about applications, timelines, schedule of payments, etc. please visit the Student Eligibility section of the website.

It must be noted that in addition to completing their duties as a member of the research team, students must make an oral presentation to the campus community during the  Fall semester 2009 (usually in early September). Students will also make poster presentations to a regional audience at the annual Murdock Undergraduate Research Conference. The 2008 conference was held at the University of Puget Sound, and for 2009 the conference will take place at Gonzaga University at a date to be determined (usually in early November).
