  CAREER NETWORKING
 
All alumni who have volunteered to be apart of the Career Network may be contacted regarding their vocations, the skills and background required, and the availability of jobs in their field. Occasional worksite visits may be arranged. The purpose of the contacts is informational; it is not a placement service. You can access this information and view open job lisitings using the "career center" in the online community.


  CONTINUING EDUCATION
 

ALL ALUMNI

  • Alumni Travel and Interest-based Educational Opportunities
    Each year, Willamette offers a number of alumni travel and interest-based educational opportunities. For a complete list of this year's opportunities, please visit Event and Activities.

  • Academic Listener Program
    This program allows non-degree-seeking students to attend regularly scheduled classes at Willamette in a non-credit learning environment. As an academic listener, you may participate in limited classroom discussion, without taking examinations or being required to do assignments. To become an academic listener, pick up the application form at the Registrar’s Office and take it to the first meeting of the course for signature by the instructor. Participation as an academic listener requires the approval of the course’s instructor, and is granted on a space-available basis, with preference given to full-time, degree-seeking students. Before the end of the second week of classes, return your completed form to the Registrar’s Office along with your payment. Fees: $60 per 1.00 credit course, $30 per .50 credit course. For students 65 or older, fees are $40 per 1.00 credit course, $20 per .50 credit course. You may pay by check or money order (made out to Willamette University), or charge to your Visa, MasterCard, or Discover Card (provide card number and expiration date).   • Library Privileges
    As a Willamette alumnus/a, you are eligible for a library card, renewable annually. Materials in the circulating collection may be checked out for three weeks, renewable unless needed by another borrower. For more information, plese contact Mark O. Hatfield Library or J.W. Long Library.

  • Sparks Center Use
    Alumni/ae may use the facilities at Sparks Center for $350 annually for individual membership. Alumni/ae visiting Salem and campus may obtain, at the Athletic Department, a pass for one day only at no charge.

ATKINSON ALUMNI

  • Attending Classes
    Atkinson alumni can attend Atkinson classes at half-price tuition. If you are interested in taking a course please email Janet Jobes.
  • Executive Development Center
    The Atkinson Graduate School of Management at Willamette University has created the Executive Development Center (EDC) to bring the power of our respected teaching and research capabilities to customize educational programs for managers and executives. If your organization needs assistance we'll provide the educational expertise, breakthrough knowledge and targeted education that your organization doesn't have the time or resources to offer in-house. We'll show your company management skills to increase productivity, to identify opportunity, to reduce mistakes and to shorten idea-to-market cycles. Our programs promote creativity and provide tools for managers to determine whether ideas are truly innovations that will produce durable results and drive your mission. In short, we'll show you results.


  • Atkinson Management Society
    Atkinson graduates are members of the Atkinson Management Society, whose mission is to “further the interests and welfare of the Geo. H. Atkinson Graduate School of Management, and support the School in maintaining the highest standards of professional education and career development. ”The Atkinson Management Society has an Executive Committee which promotes professional and social networking by coordinating Society programs and services.

 
  PUBLICATIONS
 

The Office of Communications has governance over all external University publications and communications, including the University Web site. They also consider submissions to the Willamette Scene or Willamette Lawyer magazines, press releases, etc. Please contact Alumni Records if you wish to be added or removed from a mailing list.

  • Alumni Directories
    An Alumni Directory is published every five years and contains historical and alumni/ae information. In the future, the alumni office may publish the directory online or in CD form. You can search an updated Alumni Directory online through the online community. Search the alumni directory now.

  • Newsletters
    Newsletters inform alumni/ae about activities of various departments. The Troubadour is published by the Music Department and At Play is published by the Theatre Department. Moveable Type is published by the Library, and Willamette's Athletics department issues regular Bearcat Club newsletters. Atkinson’s alumni newsletter, ATKINSONews, keeps alumni informed of developments at the Atkinson Graduate School of Management.

  • The Scene
    As Willamette’s university magazine, The Scene is the major written connection Willamette provides to all of its constituents. The Scene includes sections on alumni association and club activities, campus news, faculty and student achievements and class notes. The Scene can be viewed on line at www.willamette.edu/scene.

  • The Lawyer
    The magazine of the first law school in the Pacific Northwest. The Lawyer includes sections on new and notes, alumni profiles, law school briefs, faculty perspectives, class actions and more. The Lawyer can be viewed online in pdf format.

  • Student Publications
    You can subscribe to several student publications, including the Collegian, the Chrysallis and the Wallulah. Subscriptions vary in cost depending on duration of subscription, type of publication, etc. For more information, contact the Student Publications Office: 503-370-6053.
 
  CAMPUS EVENTS
 
  • Cultural Events
    A variety of cultural events are presented to enrich campus and community life. Major speakers are scheduled each year through the Atkinson Lecture Series. The Educational Programs Committee sponsors speakers, performers and workshops, usually tied to a theme for the year. Convocations are scheduled weekly during the academic year by the Office of the Chaplain.

    The Theatre Department presents approximately four major student productions each year. The department also sponsors campus performances by other groups on occasion. The Art Department schedules art exhibits throughout the academic year. In addition, the Hallie Ford Museum of Art features a permanent collection and changing exhibits. Public lectures and educational enrichment programs are also provided.

    The Music Department sponsors the Grace Goudy Distinguished Artists Series, New Music at Willamette, and other events to bring visiting musicians to campus. Student, faculty and university-community performance groups present a variety of vocal and instrumental performances.

  • Athletic Events
    Attend Willamette athletic activities at home and in your local area. See our Web site for current schedules and results. Alumni clubs hold occasional receptions and tailgate parties before and after games. www.willamette.edu/athletics/

  • Marion Polk County Schools Credit Union
    MaPS Credit Union has been serving members living or working in Marion or Polk Counties for 64 years. They are the ninth largest credit union in Oregon. Willamette alumni are able to join the credit union. To find out more about MaPS, visit their web site at: www.mapscu.com.
