ICL used to adhere to Willamette's inclement weather policy, but this did not work well since Willamette's students mostly live on or close to campus; so Willamette rarely canceled classes in inclement weather.
So the ICL Board decided instead to go with the Salem-Keizer School District's inclement weather policy. This needs to be clarified because of the difference between regular school start times and ICL start time. The November 2014 Board's decision is as follows:
- When the Salem-Keizer School District cancels classes for the morning or the day, ICL will also cancel classes for the morning or the day, respectively.
- Since a 2-hour delay in start time announced by Salem-Keizer School District results in a delay of school start time from 7:30 am to 9:30 am, ICL will then start at its usual time of 10:00 am.
