Become a Resource: Advise TaB

Take a Break (TaB) is a service-immersion alternative break program. Participants apply in the fall semester to be a part of developing a student-led educational experience which combines discussion, readings, service, and reflection to learn about other communities in relation to social and environmental justice. Each trip has no more then 15 total participants and meets on a regular basis leading up to the week of service, which typically occur over the spring break in March.

As a staff or faculty member you can volunteer to participate on the trip as an advisor. Ideally we have two advisors for each trip. Learn more about Take a Break. It is amazing to be an instrumental part of this program. Participants are evoked to become a part of the process; to search for answers; to be an instrumental component in advocating and working for justice.

TaB alum significantly increases their involvement in the Salem community upon returning. They become members of Americorp, Teach for America, and the Peacecorp. Engaging in this program is a unique and life-altering experience that, as an advisor since 2004, I have identified as some of my most meaningful experiences to date. I encourage you to consider this opportunity. Please email service@willamette.edu if you would like to meet to learn more.
