Getting Started

This web site serves as a connecting point for students, staff, and the community. This resource will evolve and grow as individuals contribute information to share with one another. We encourage you to add your voice, emailing service@willamette.edu contributions of web links, books, work shops, conferences, and service opportunities.

Each section of the website is geared toward specific needs although you are welcome to view the entire site.

The student section helps connect students to current volunteer opportunities, service-learning courses, and information on how to build skills, get funding, or research social and environmental justice.

The staff section identifies ways to play a vital role in mentoring and supporting students in civic engagement, to build a service-learning course, or to volunteer.

The community section seeks to build mutually beneficial partnerships with agencies and schools so that we can work together to evoke change through service.

Our students are not required to do service yet it is an essential part of what the Willamette University community chooses to do on a daily basis. Willamette University students give over 14,000 hours per year in volunteer work serving over 130 agencies and schools. This is one of the ways we live our motto “Not Unto Ourselves Alone are We Born.”
