The purpose of this employee handbook is to provide a summary of employment policies, practices and benefit programs of Willamette University. This handbook applies to all classified staff members and supersedes all prior handbooks. Employees in these classifications are required to read this handbook so that they are aware of University policies and practices that govern the workplace.
This is a "living document" and, as such, is subject to change at any time, with or without advance notice, at the discretion of the University. Where changes are substantive, changes shall be communicated and the method and extent of communication shall be determined by the University based on the nature of the changes. Like any other compilation of general information, certain portions of this handbook may become outdated relative to implemented and approved policies and practices, but Human Resources will make every effort at ensuring timely updates. Nevertheless, you should always check with Human Resources to be sure you have current information before taking action based on any specific information contained in this handbook. It is the responsibility of employees to confirm status of policies or other information. University management retains the sole right of interpreting the terms of this handbook.

It does not represent an employment contract, express or implied, nor does it guarantee that any employee will be employed for any specific or definite period of time. In addition, as circumstances change, the benefits and practices described in this handbook may also change from time to time. The University reserves the right to change, add to or discontinue any of the policies in this handbook as it deems appropriate.
